Daddy Daughter Party

img008 (1) Chris and Kennedy went to a Daddy Daughter party for Activity Days tonight. They came home really excited. They were practicing swing dancing in the living room for awhile afterwards. They also did some sort of race with the kids shoes on their dads heads and a few other things.

It's been a crazy few days around here, getting ready for my family to come this weekend, but it will be a good time. I also thought that we had everything in place for Carter to go to kindergarten at Spalding like his brother and sister, but things got thrown out the window. I'm not sure where we will be sending him now. Decisions, decisions.

In the meantime, Chris will be happy that I am actually taking responsibility for this blog, since it was my idea. Which I completely blame on my friend Amanda. He's been keeping his up to date and starting mine.

Another Busy Week

I am going to do my best to get a post up at least once a week. So in that spirit I wanted to take a few minutes and recap last week.

As usual we had something going on nearly every night last week. There was a Primary board meeting, yes I am still helping with the Valiant 11 boys, on Tuesday. The Bronco Men's Basketball team played on Wednesday night and beat Cal State Bakersfield 84 - 72. Cal State was a bit outmatched and the Broncos never trailed.

Thursday Mikki went to the Stake Women's Conference and I stayed home and prepared a casserole for the next day. On Friday Mikki and I attended Virgina Hansen's funeral at the Ward Building. Mikki was her visiting teacher for a year or so. The Relief Society provided lunch for the Hansen family at the church after the graveside ceremony.

The funeral service was very moving, Virgina was very well liked and quite a personality. She left very specific instructions about what she wanted said at her funeral and both Corey Perkins and Bill Brown followed her instructions. Her testimony of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Plan of Salvation were emphasised. I felt the service was very uplifting a celebration of Virginia's life and the promise that her family will be reunited.

Later that night there was a party at the church. Sister Scholes arranged an ice cream and game night. The attendance was very good and everyone had a great time. Families brought their favorite games to share, Carter really liked the fishing game and Ryan played Risk. Kennedy was bored with the whole thing and just hung out with Megan.

The weather was bad on Saturday so we didn't go up to Bogus. The mountain was clouded in most of the day making visibility very poor. I spent the time doing some minor repairs around the house. I never thought I would be a plumber but I was able to replace the drain in a bathroom sink after finally locating the correct parts. The Broncos played against Siena Saturday night loosing 93 - 70. It was a tough game for the Broncos against a small but very quick team. The officials did not help out very much making some very interesting calls and allowing the teams to be very physical.

This week promises to be just as busy with the State Basketball Tournament starting on Thursday. We are really looking forward to Mikki's family coming over to visit.

President's Day Weekend

We all enjoyed a long weekend with the President's Day Holiday. We spent the time as a family getting up skiing on both Saturday and Monday. The kids all enjoyed the skiing with Carter skiing down the bunny hill all by himself from the top of the lift. Kennedy got to ski on the back side of the mountian a lot.

Carter is still using his edgy wedgie, which keeps his ski tips together, and he complains when it is taken off. I am going to spend some time with him next trip up to the mountian. He needs to practice skiing without the wedgie. He does love the magic carpet, it is much easier than the lift and definately an improvement on the rope tow that I learned on.

Kennedy is really enjoying skiing on the backside of the mountian. She likes Lower Nugget the best of the runs we have done. She has also skied on Paradise, Wildcat and Bonanza which are all fairly steep and narrow. She does a great job getting down the mountian and is not afraid of any of the terrain.

Ryan likes to ski faster than Kennedy and he gets a bit frustrated that she does not try harder to keep up with him. However, he still enjoys going up and skiing. He had a sore ankle on Saturday so he only took a few runs but he went to the backside with Kennedy and me on Monday. He skied great doing good parrell turns and getting down the mountian quickly.
